Legion of Mary Bill Flook, Curia President (540) 347-5691
The Ark of the Covenant Praesidium meets on Monday evenings from 7:15-8:45pm; the Immaculate Heart of Mary meets on Monday mornings at from 9:30-11am, and Our Lady Queen of Angels Junior Praesidium, meets on Friday afternoons from 4:30-6pm. The Legion sponsors an adult education discussion group, the Patricians, which meets the second Saturday of each month in the Science Room of St. John School from 10am-12Noon. Topics are posted each month in the Bulletin. Active membership in the Legion of Mary is open to all practicing Catholics with a willingness to sacrifice a little time and energy for the greatest reason in the world – the love of God. Auxiliary membership is encouraged by all Catholics who would like to participate spiritually, but are not able to participate in the active work. St. John's three Praesidia meet weekly in the
Marian Center for prayer, planning and discussion. Each active member is
responsible for a minimum of two hours assigned work each week,
such as welcoming new parishioners, visiting the sick and the
elderly, door-to-door evangelization and teaching catechism. All
work is done in pairs.
