Formerly called the Third Order of St. Francis, the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) consists of lay men and women, married or unmarried, who are trying to follow the example of St. Francis of Assisi by living a Gospel-centered life. The SFO, in a spirit of self-denial, fosters spirituality and promotes corporal works of mercy. Membership in the SFO is a wonderful way to deepen one's spiritual life and to belong to community life within the Church.
