Youth Ministry

St. John’s Catholic Youth Group is open to all high school teens (grades 9-12) of the parish. It is an opportunity extended to them to grow in their faith and their understanding of what it means to be Catholic and to live a Catholic/Sacramental life as an adolescent.

On Sunday evenings throughout the school year, teens meet from 6:30-8:30pm in the Youth Center for crazy games, lively discussion, witness talks, a teaching and prayer as the format for the Youth Group meetings. These meetings offer excellent opportunities for open discussions of relevant teen faith and life issues, with an emphasis on challenging them with the Truth and the teachings of the Church.

Other opportunities for growing in spiritual awareness, prayerfulness, outreach and service are provided to the members of the youth community through the youth program. Monthly socials, a Teen Holy Hour with Eucharistic Adoration and a youth-led scriptural rosary, Bible study, a winter ski trip and a summer week-long workcamp/mission trip to repair the homes of needy individuals are some of the more significant efforts of the program. On-going social and spiritual events are planned for the summer months as well. All parish youth are invited to any and all youth functions, and are encouraged to invite their friends to many of these events.
